Salisbury steak


1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon mustard
2 teaspoon ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon onion powder (if not using onion in gravy)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oil for skillet

2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon ketchup
4 tablespoons flour
1 small onion
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Sauté onion.
Mix top ingredients together; by hand is best,
divide into 6 equal portions and shape into patties.
Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat, flipping every
5-6 minutes for a total time of 15-20 minutes.
Remove from pan and tent while making gravy.

Whisk together the flour with 1 cup of beef broth.
Drain pan, leaving 2/3 tablespoons of liquid.
Whisk first cup of broth into pan, bring to a light boil,
Slowly add the flour-broth mixture,
While continuing to whisk add the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
Add salt to taste and whisk until nicely thickened.

Serve over mashed potatoes or rice
Steamed broccoli or fresh carrots go nicely too!
